In 2020 Nevada Division of State Lands granted our team funds to perform cleanups in six different areas of interest along the NV shoreline of Lake Tahoe. This cleanup helped us refine our litter and data collection procedures, safety protocols and further confirmed the need for a complete shoreline cleanup. Litter data from this project showed that litter accumulation is correlated with the occurrence of rocky lake beds and the proximity to popular and populated shorelines.
Project Outcome
- 2,238lbs of litter weight removed
- 7.1 miles completed
- 3,607 pieces of litter removed
- 1,968 cans removed
- 6 tires removed
