Volunteer with Clean Up the Lake

Our mission at Clean Up The Lake is to safely fight against the plastic pollution in and around many of our coveted lakes in California, Nevada and beyond.  As a part of our Clean Up operations we rely heavily on both SCUBA volunteers as well as our surface support volunteers.  If you are interested in helping out with Clean Up the Lake, please read through the descriptions below and fill out an application.

Volunteer SCUBA Diver

Are you a qualified SCUBA diver with an Advanced Open Water certification or higher and recent diving experience? We invite you to apply for a rewarding volunteer opportunity! If you’re not yet Advanced Open Water certified, we encourage you to continue your dive education to prepare for future opportunities (though please note that completing additional certifications doesn’t guarantee immediate placement due to high application volumes). Additionally, if you’re interested in other exciting volunteer roles, such as litter sorting, kayaking, freediving, snorkeling, boat driving, or jet skiing, we’d love to hear from you—simply fill out our General Volunteer Application to explore these opportunities!

General Volunteers

Our mission at Clean Up The Lake is to safely fight against the plastic pollution in and around many of our favorite recreation locations in California, Nevada and beyond. As a part of our SCUBA powered Clean Ups, we rely heavily on the help of our surface support volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering with Clean Up the Lake on any of our future projects, please fill out a general volunteer application.  Below is a list of volunteer opportunities that we are seeking qualified individuals for:

  • Litter Sorter (No experience required)
  • Kayaker (Kayaking or SUP experience is required)
  • Snorkeler (Must be a good swimmer; some snorkeling experience is preferred)
  • Freediver (Must be a good swimmer and have experience free diving)
  • Boat Driver (Valid CA or NV boaters card & substantial experience driving boats, ideally in a work environment. **Must be willing and available for multiple volunteer days per season.)
  • Jet Skier (Requirements: Valid CA or NV boaters card & substantial experience driving jet skis, ideally in a work environment. **Must be willing and available for multiple volunteer days per season.)
